How to be earth friendly by using what you have.

Tip: Earth Friendly Tips
Written by Roxanne Vigos
Hurray for Warm Spring Weather! I have been working in my yard and I wanted to share some helpful tips that have worked for me. Cardboard and Bark chips have been my go-to for weed suppression. I’ve had great success with the “Sheet Compost” or ” Lasagna” Bed methods, which allow you to use your old yard waste.
Earth-friendly tip number one is to Use what you have! Like many of you, I am sure I have been trying to shrink and eliminate single-use plastics. This is really challenging with food waste packaging, the best way to reduce this waste is to shop fresh and local and buy in bulk when you can. But you can be a reusable bag ‘SUPERSTAR” if you do a few simple practices. Tidy up all those reusable bags and leave them in one designated bag in the car. If you get to the checkout and realize you have forgotten them, simply load groceries back into the cart and take them out to the car. Often I find this helps me to better organize my groceries based on temperature and where they end up in the pantry at home. It’s a little hard to get in the habit, but once you do, it makes a difference.
Oh, and if you need cool reusable bags made from cotton we have a great selection at the shop made by awesome Local Artists. Next month we can talk more about COMPOST!
